CHAPTER 2

On November 23rd, 2024, the vibrant city of Bangalore became the stage for our Ankuran Olympiad Chapter 2, held in collaboration with the Vividha Trust under their cherished initiative, “Curious Minds.” This day brought together 42 enthusiastic students from 24 different special schools across the southern states of India, including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh. From 2nd to 12th standard, these young minds united in a celebration of knowledge and ingenuity.

The atmosphere was charged with excitement as students filtered in, eager to test their skills and engage with the world of STEM education. The response was overwhelming, highlighting the critical need for inclusive educational opportunities for visually impaired students nationwide. Each participant had come not just to compete, but to embrace the spirit of curiosity and learning. The Olympiad was meticulously organized into four distinct categories, each designed to challenge and inspire students at different academic levels. Category 1 catered to the youngest participants from the 2nd and 3rd standards, featuring basic tactile questions that sparked their imagination—games of counting and figure identification that set the stage for joy and exploration. Categories 2, 3, and 4 advanced the challenge for students from the 5th to 12th standards, pushing their knowledge and problem-solving skills to new heights. As the event unfolded, the air buzzed with anticipation and camaraderie, as students cheered each other on, sharing in both the triumph and the learning experience. On the next day, the moment everyone had been waiting for arrived—the prize distribution! Each of the three winners from Categories 2, 3, and 4 were celebrated for their achievements, but it was Category 1 that truly captured the spirit of the day. In an unprecedented turn, every single participant from the 2nd and 3rd standard scored full marks. In recognition of their hard work and extraordinary accomplishments, they were all declared winners, embodying the essence of collaboration and mutual support.

The Ankuran Olympiad in Bangalore was not merely a competition; it was a testament to the power of education, community, and resilience. As we reflect on this inspiring chapter, we are reminded that every curious mind holds the potential to shine brightly. We look forward to more such events that empower and uplift, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to explore the vast world of knowledge that lies ahead.
