On November 23rd, 2024, the vibrant city of Bangalore became the stage for our Ankuran Olympiad Chapter 2, held in collaboration with the Vividha Trust under their cherished initiative, “Curious Minds.” This day brought together 42 enthusiastic students from 24 different special schools across the southern states of India, including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh. From 2nd to 12th standard, these young minds united in a celebration of knowledge and ingenuity.
The atmosphere was charged with excitement as students filtered in, eager to test their skills and engage with the world of STEM education. The response was overwhelming, highlighting the critical need for inclusive educational opportunities for visually impaired students nationwide. Each participant had come not just to compete, but to embrace the spirit of curiosity and learning. The Olympiad was meticulously organized into four distinct categories, each designed to challenge and inspire students at different academic levels. Category 1 catered to the youngest participants from the 2nd and 3rd standards, featuring basic tactile questions that sparked their imagination—games of counting and figure identification that set the stage for joy and exploration. Categories 2, 3, and 4 advanced the challenge for students from the 5th to 12th standards, pushing their knowledge and problem-solving skills to new heights.
