Raised Lines Foundation (RLF) was invited to conduct a “Training workshop on the use of CorelDraw and Microsoft Word to produce Tactile Images on Swell Technology”. The workshop took place in Pasig City, Philippines from 1st Oct to 5th October 2018 and was organized by the Basic Education Sector Transformation (BEST) and the Department of Education, Philippines (DepED).
The training was conducted with a diverse group of more than 70 participants including special educators, subject experts and illustrators. During the workshop the participants were given hands-on training in using CorelDraw and Microsoft Word for the designing of tactile images. An important aspect of the training was also to familiarize the participants with the concept International Design Guidelines, the understanding of the design guidelines is an essential part of developing meaningful tactile graphics.
All the participants were highly enthusiastic and eager to learn the new technology and design techniques. At the end of each day, the participants were required to produce the outputs (the tactile diagrams) that they had designed during the day, using swell technology.
